Requirements
Must:
We require a candidate who possesses a high school diploma or its equivalent. A minimum of 10 years of coding experience within a healthcare environment is essential. Additionally, you must have successfully completed a Certified Coding Program or Health Information Management Program. Candidates should hold one of the following certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). A sound understanding of regulatory requirements is necessary, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office products and 3M Encoding and Grouping software.

Responsibilities
You will work directly under the supervision of the Coding and Reimbursement Manager in the Health Information Management department. Your primary duties will include coding Inpatient, Observation, and Outpatient Surgery visits using the ICD-9-CM and CPT coding classification systems. It will be your responsibility to ensure the appropriate DRG assignment and to complete a Diagnosis and Procedure Coding Abstract for all cases. Additionally, you will be expected to uphold our Health System's guest relations policy and adhere to all Federal and State regulations and standards from accrediting bodies, including but not limited to HIPAA and JCAHO.
