Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience.
- Six years of experience in enterprise, application, and/or information architecture within a line of business or enterprise area.
- Good understanding of security.
- If Cyber: CISSP, CISM, Security+, CISA, or equivalent Cybersecurity certification preferred.
- If Information Architect: experience modernizing data technology and information architecture on cloud.
- Cloud Architecture Certification (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or strong architecture experience on Cloud.
Responsibilities
- Proactively define and drive technology architecture strategies and roadmaps.
- Create a partnership with Senior Software Engineering.
- Optimize talent strategy to ensure a proper mix of resources and attract and recruit the best talent.
- Drive continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt.
- Hands-on prototyping of new technology solutions.
- Define and lead technology proof of concepts to ensure the feasibility of architecture solutions.

Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
As Senior Architect you play a pivotal role helping define the target state of a multi-cloud engineering ecosystem that accelerates software delivery across Travelers. Reporting to a member of the Enterprise Architecture and Engineering Enablement leadership team, your primary focus will be collaboratively designing systems and processes that streamline the jobs of engineers removing friction related to application development and environment setup. You will partner with technology and business leaders in defining target state, forging a path to success by delivering emerging technologies that transform and optimize the business. The ideal candidate is a person of high integrity, results-driven, continuously learning technologist, and passionate about technology transformations.
What Will You Do?
- Define target state technology architecture and roadmaps
- Ensures alignment of IT initiatives with target state
- Builds strong partnerships with engineering to ensure proper alignment of skills with technology direction
- Prepares and delivers comprehensive communications to convey architectural direction and how it aligns with the enterprise strategy
- Continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Bachelor's in technology related field or equivalent with 5+ years of technology Architecture experience
- Provided mentorship to architects
- Organizational and transformational experience in an agile operating model
- Establishes strategic technology direction and architecture vision for an organization
- Strong proven Software Engineering experience
- Developed technology target state, roadmaps that aligned to Short- and Long-term business goals
- Proven track record of influencing senior leadership
- Insurance technology experience
- Strong grasp of value creation and business capability models
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Has hands-on experience in the last 3 years
- Executed technology modernization initiatives including migration to cloud-native and API Strategy
- Current deep experience with AWS, APIs, accelerators, DevSecOps
- Experienced with large-scale technology platforms
- If Cyber: demonstrated proficiency in designing security solutions that align to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Cloud Security Alliance methodologies
- If Information Architect: exposure and understanding of advanced analytics techniques using ML and AI, hands-on experience with data technologies on cloud.
