Requirements
Must:
We require the following qualifications for the senior VoIP engineer position:
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 10 years of experience, or at least 16 years of relevant work experience and a combination of college coursework and certifications in lieu of a degree.
- Extensive hands-on experience with VoIP systems, Session Border Controllers, and VoIP peripherals, along with a willingness to learn Asterisk.
- Proficiency in dial plans, IVRs, SIP, IAX, RTP, DIDs, codecs, and other protocols.
- A solid understanding of traditional telephony, PRIs, BRIs, FXO/FXS, circuit-switching, POTS, PSTN, and MTSO.
- Knowledge of the OSI model, firewalls, IP routing, IP switching, VLANs, and QOS/COS.
- Experience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and analytics tools.
- Hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting servers, as well as working with Linux operating systems like Ubuntu and CentOS.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining professionalism with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will be responsible for:
- Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Asterisk-based PBX/SBC systems, peripherals, and IP phones.
- Monitoring the entire VoIP infrastructure and providing regular reports.
- Collaborating with the Chief Engineer on VoIP optimization.
- Ensuring VoIP system uptime, performance, and security.
- Documenting and enforcing VoIP standards.
- Traveling OCONUS as needed.
- Maintaining the VoIP system/network in our Chantilly, VA lab.
Description

The program includes both CONUS and OCONUS teams that interact across different time zones, making excellent communication skills essential. We also expect flexibility regarding teamwork and multitasking to achieve timely results. We offer a competitive pay range from $126,100 to $227,950, and we anticipate that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days after the original posting date.
