Requirements
Must:
We are seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:
- Master's degree with 12-15 years of relevant experience or Doctorate with 10-13 years of relevant experience. Specific experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Security+ CE certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification within 30 days of the start date.
- Currently possess an active DoD Top Secret security clearance or higher.
- Experience leading solution design and architecture development for a complex cloud-based system.
- Experience with the design, development, and delivery of data-driven operations capabilities in a DoD environment.
- Experience with Process Mapping.
- 4+ years of systems engineering experience, including developing requirements traceability for software systems (RVTM), writing software systems engineering documents (SDP, etc.), and developing software interface documents (IDDs/ICDs).
- Experience working with the Linux operating system and related operating system commands.
- Familiarity with web services APIs, including REST.
- Experience identifying and tracking related project task dependencies, risks, and possible mitigations.
- Experience estimating the level of effort (hours/days/resources) to create a project plan and schedule.
- Experience working with a highly technical team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with project management and configuration management tools such as JIRA, Xray, Confluence, and Git.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, systems engineers, and architects.
- Ability to prioritize work to meet fixed deadlines.
- Ability to travel periodically as needed.
- Experience collaborating in a cross-discipline team with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
As a Systems Engineer / Architect, I will be responsible for:
- Developing technical approaches, solutions, and systems for innovations that best fit business needs.
- Designing and overseeing the implementation of the solution throughout the lifecycle to ensure it meets the needs of stakeholders.
- Providing recommendations and alternatives for solutions and creating solution prototypes.
- Participating in technology selection and analyzing the technology environment and constraints.
- Developing roadmaps for solutions.
- Acting as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborating with process owners, technical leads, and a variety of stakeholders to refine the solution, design, process, and approaches.
- Employing solution architecture and system engineering principles for analysis, problem evaluation/diagnosis, and solution design.
- Working closely with end users, software engineers, data engineers, testers, cloud engineers, network engineers, and information assurance specialists.
- Employing a systems engineering approach for planning, design, execution, and sustainment.
- Defining processes for technical platforms, system specifications, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models.
- Leading the development of business process maps using a standard methodology and toolset.
- Providing measurable input to new solutions, processes, or standards to achieve functional/project objectives.
- Collaborating with colleagues to monitor and report technical variances; facilitating the resolution of technical issues that adversely impact product delivery.
- Quickly adapting to customer environments and adopting their processes.
- Authoring and executing user acceptance strategies, plans, and scripts for the innovation’s deployment.
- Supporting the resolution of technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Employing exceptional problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Supporting or leading business proposal responses as required.
Description
The Systems Engineer / Architect will be responsible for the functional and technical design of solutions within the DTR ITD I3TS portfolio, including leading the technical design of solution components and developing system and technical requirements in support of customer-facing capabilities in a Data-Driven, AI-ready, hybrid cloud-based environment in Fort Belvoir, VA. As an I3TS team member, I will work as part of a fast-paced Agile team to create solution designs and manage requirements across multiple DTRA ITD modernization and integration efforts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in multi-cloud environments, specifically working with GovCloud providers such as Microsoft Azure and AWS, infrastructure modernization, and automation. I seek a candidate with expertise spanning on-premise cloud extensions, Azure Local, Kubernetes, VMware, and Microsoft Entra ID. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong deductive reasoning, attention to detail, persistence, patience, and creativity.
