Responsibilities
In the role of System Engineer on our team, we expect you to operate autonomously and deliver projects that have scope at the team level while beginning to interact with other teams. You will seek guidance from your manager, senior engineers, or principal engineers when faced with trade-off decisions, and mentor new team members on how our services are constructed and operate. You’ll guide and influence the team by providing feedback during operations reviews and will play a part in influencing managerial decisions during backlog reviews and planning meetings. Additionally, you’ll tackle challenging technical problems requiring an understanding of our software and evaluate trade-offs to produce logical, testable, and maintainable solutions.
A typical day will include performing root cause analysis on internal network appliances, proposing solutions to prevent future occurrences, maintaining network health, reviewing team members' code, contributing code to existing tooling, and developing project updates for leadership and team members.
This position includes on-call responsibilities, typically requiring you to be available one week every two months. We strive for fault tolerance to minimize late-night or weekend pages, and when issues arise, we work collaboratively towards resolutions to prevent recurrences.
