Requirements
Must:
- I require a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or a Master's with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- You must possess an active DoD Secret or higher clearance.
- I am looking for proven experience with systems design, systems planning, and DoD system security principles.
- You should have the ability to work independently or under generalized supervision with strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- You need to be comfortable working on multiple systems and components simultaneously in various configurations.
- I expect you to effectively plan and prioritize tasks and communicate clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- You must meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements at a minimum (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP along with an appropriate computing environment certification).
I prefer candidates with direct hands-on experience in at least two out of the following five technology disciplines:
1. Linux operating systems (RHEL 7, RHEL 8, CentOS, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu, and/or Fedora).
2. VMware (virtualization products).
3. Enterprise Networks.
4. Windows operating systems (2016, 2019 & 2022, M365, SharePoint).
5. Storage Area Networks.
Responsibilities
- I need you to develop highly innovative Systems Engineering solutions to resolve complex problems using technical knowledge and best practices.
- You will create and maintain governance documentation such as Engineering plans, Diagrams, Sustainment, and Test Plans.
- You are expected to coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews as part of the project life cycle when standing up or modifying new systems or existing environments.
- You will design, diagram, and deploy new applications or enhancements, including software and operating systems.
- Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools will be part of your duties.
- You must assess and perform server security audits and system vulnerabilities to ensure systems meet DoD security posture before achieving operational readiness.
- Conducting research and/or proof of concept on software and systems products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts is required.
- I expect you to liaise with vendors and other IT personnel when necessary on project solutions and design.
- Coordinating, facilitating, and verifying Systems Engineering projects across multiple environments will be essential.
- You will also conduct technical presentations for management and customers.
Description
I am excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Project Systems Engineer who is looking to expand their knowledge and grow with our team on the Air Force National Capital Region IT Services Program (AFNCR ITS). This role involves assessing systems, determining issues, providing solutions, designing and upgrading systems, maintaining systems, and brainstorming potential improvements for the future.
The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for various Air Force entities. The major support areas needed include IT Operations and Maintenance; Plans, Projects, and Engineering (PP&E); and the National Military Command Center (NMCC). Supporting senior leaders and national defense missions requires our operations to run without fail, resulting in a fast-paced, challenging, but rewarding environment.
