Requirements
Must:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, alongside experience in a hotel or a related sector.
- At least three years of progressive experience in hotel operations or a related field is preferred.
- Completion of trade school and/or college coursework in a relevant discipline is advantageous.
- Prior supervisory experience is essential.
- Flexibility in work hours, including the possibility of long shifts, may be necessary.
- The role involves a considerable physical demand, including the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects in excess of 100 pounds occasionally and over 50 pounds frequently.
- A warm and friendly disposition is expected at all times.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage with employees and guests in a courteous, service-oriented manner.
- Strong listening skills to understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests are required.
- Capacity to multitask and prioritize departmental responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- An attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented approach in all interactions is vital.
- Attendance at all required hotel meetings and training sessions is mandatory.
- Consistent attendance in line with Highgate Hotel Standards is essential, as dictated by scheduling needs.
- High standards of personal appearance and grooming are expected, including the proper uniform and nametag.
- Adherence to Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations is required.
- Demonstrating productivity, identifying problem areas, and assisting in implementing solutions is crucial.
- Problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and resolve issues, are necessary.
- Capability to comprehend and apply complex information and data from various sources to achieve objectives is required.
- The ability to cross-train in other hotel-related areas is needed.
- Confidentiality of information must be maintained.
- Initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs is important.
- The performance of other duties as requested by management is expected.
Responsibilities
- I will assist in formulating and executing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in a safe and acceptable condition.
- I will ensure that the hotel complies with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- I will oversee that all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified according to hotel standards or the authority having jurisdiction.
- I will supervise the Engineers, ensuring they receive adequate training in customer service programs, standard operating procedures, and loss prevention practices.
- I will actively participate in energy conservation initiatives in line with Highgate Hotel's standards.
- I will review all feedback from guests and meeting planners to identify and address any issues promptly.
- I will ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- I will assist in managing all vendor contracts as required by the Engineering Department in accordance with hotel standards.
- I will contribute to the development and management of wage/salary controls, other expenses, and energy budgets according to Highgate Hotelโs financial standards.
- I will aid in creating financial forecasts and take part in monthly profit and loss review meetings.
- I will provide assistance as needed with special projects and renovations.
- I will be responsible for repairing and programming the hotel electronic lock system.
- I will assist in planning preventive maintenance tasks.
