Requirements
Must:
- Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility and ability to obtain CI Poly
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in education, technical training, or military
- 4-6 years of relevant professional software development experience focused on backend
- Strong command of Python with proven ability to produce clean, maintainable code
- Solid SQL expertise, including complex queries, joins, and query optimization
- Practical experience with PostgreSQL or equivalent relational databases in production
- Familiarity with developing RESTful APIs with appropriate error management
- Experience with CI/CD platforms like GitLab for automation of builds and deployments
- Proficiency in using the Linux command line, especially in RHEL/Rocky Linux environments
- Experience creating automated tests with established testing frameworks
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities to handle issues systematically
- Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within teams
- (Preferred) Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, or Scala, and messaging platforms like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar
- (Preferred) Understanding of authentication/authorization concepts (OAuth, JWT, SAML)
- (Preferred) Insights into data transformation and ETL processes, as well as familiarity with additional AWS services
- (Preferred) SAFe Agile certification or relevant experience in secure government environments
Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain backend services and middleware for secure government applications using Python and SQL
- Design and integrate APIs to facilitate internal and external system communication with security measures and error handling
- Implement messaging solutions using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar for asynchronous processing and event-driven workflows
- Collaborate with relational databases like PostgreSQL to create efficient data access layers and enhance query performance
- Build containerized applications utilizing Docker and assist with deployments to Kubernetes clusters
- Create automated tests, including unit, integration, and end-to-end test scenarios to assure code reliability
- Establish authentication and authorization protocols following best practices and compliance standards
- Participate in the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines in GitLab for automated software delivery
- Conduct data parsing, transformation, and validation to support application data flows and ETL
- Diagnose and resolve application issues through systematic debugging techniques and Linux command line utilities
- Collaborate with peers in Agile/Scrum practices, including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
- Document technical architectures, API specifications, and operational processes for developed solutions
