Requirements
Must:
- Production engineering experience in building automation and integration services (APIs, webhooks, queues, background jobs)
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript/Node.js
- Experience in developing AI applications utilizing tool calling/function calling and structured outputs (schemas) for reliable action triggers
- Hands-on experience with agent workflow orchestration techniques (e.g., LangGraph/LangChain patterns, Microsoft AutoGen, CrewAI-style task orchestration, or custom state machines)
- Strong API integration skills with a focus on event-driven design; familiarity with Shopify webhooks and Admin API, preferably GraphQL
- Practical knowledge in reliability engineering, including idempotency, retries/backoff strategies, and state persistence for long-running processes
Responsibilities
- Design and implement agent-based workflows to manage multi-step operational tasks (triage → decision → action → audit trail), integrating deterministic logic with LLM tool-calling as needed
- Develop and maintain integrations with Shopify using Admin API and webhooks for event-driven automation
- Engineer systems that adhere to Shopify API rate limits while implementing strategies for backoff, retry, and idempotency
- Create comprehensive automation services/tools, including job runners, queues, state persistence mechanisms, human-in-the-loop review processes, and audit logging
- Develop structured output formats (schemas) for consistent downstream automation, such as order exception handling and validated action planning using function/tool calling
- Collaborate with Operations, Customer Experience, and Marketing teams to identify high-impact automations, define success metrics, and iteratively improve based on performance and error metrics
