Requirements
Must:

- Over 8 years of experience in software or machine learning engineering roles.
- A minimum of 4 years specializing in the development and deployment of AI-centered systems with visual or multimodal data.
- At least 2 years in creating generative AI systems that incorporate visual-language models, diffusion models, or other multimodal architectures.
- A proven track record of bringing AI-powered products from prototype to production, focusing on maintainability, performance, and user impact.
- Proficient programming skills in Java or similar JVM languages, along with working knowledge in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorRT).
- Practical experience with:
- Docker & Kubernetes
- Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
- UI/UX considerations in application development
Bonus Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the Spring Framework.
- Understanding of streaming data systems (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Beam, Storm).
- Knowledge of vector stores (PgVector, FAISS, Pinecone).
- Experience with C++ and CUDA for performance-critical components.

Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and enhance systems utilizing multimodal data and generative AI architectures in scalable, dependable, and cost-effective manners.
- Lead the development of AI-driven user experiences, leveraging videos, live streams, images, audio, and text data.
- Contribute to the advancement of eBay’s internal platform for generative AI applications by producing reusable components and APIs.
- Oversee and improve AI systems in production to ensure optimal performance, quality, and ethical AI practices.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in AI/ML and evaluate new models or tools for integration into the product stack.
- Promote iteration on design, implementation, and evaluation processes based on experimentation and team insights.

The expected base pay range for this position is between $210,400 and $280,900. Base pay may vary based on individualized factors like location, skills, and experience.
