Requirements
Must:
- Extensive practical experience in designing and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) in enterprise settings.
- Profound understanding of Azure infrastructure elements such as Virtual Networks, NSGs, Azure Firewall, Load Balancers, Azure Files, Azure NetApp Files, and identity services.
- Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell and Azure CLI.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Demonstrated experience in building CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps for infrastructure and image lifecycle management.
- In-depth expertise in Windows OS administration, including Group Policy, Active Directory, Intune, and endpoint management.
- Practical knowledge of FSLogix configuration and troubleshooting.
- Solid grounding in networking principles, including DNS, TCP/IP, hybrid connectivity, and secure remote access.
- Experience in deploying monitoring and logging solutions utilizing Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Awareness of security best practices such as identity governance, encryption, conditional access, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in cost management and performance enhancement within Azure environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and oversee Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, which includes host pools, session hosts, application groups, FSLogix profiles, and scaling strategies.
- Create and apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or Azure DevOps pipelines to automate AVD provisioning and setup.
- Develop and sustain automation scripts using PowerShell and Azure CLI to enhance AVD lifecycle management, patching, image updates, and scaling tasks.
- Construct and supervise CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to facilitate golden image generation, application packaging, and infrastructure deployments.
- Optimize Windows 10/11 multi-session and Windows Server session host images utilizing Azure Image Builder or Packer.
- Establish identity and access controls using Azure AD, Entra ID, Conditional Access, RBAC, and integration with on-premises Active Directory where needed.
- Configure and manage FSLogix profile containers with Azure Files or Azure NetApp Files to guarantee peak performance and user satisfaction.
- Monitor and enhance AVD performance through Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and various observability tools to proactively address user experience issues.
- Implement strategies for cost reduction in AVD, which includes autoscaling, reserved instances, and performance right-sizing.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery preparedness, and security compliance throughout AVD environments.
- Collaborate with security, networking, and infrastructure teams to design secure virtual networking, VPN/ExpressRoute connectivity, firewall settings, and zero-trust access models.
- Lead incident response initiatives and root cause analysis related to AVD performance, user sessions, or infrastructure elements.
