Requirements
Must:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 2–3+ years of professional experience in web development with a strong emphasis on PHP.
- Proficiency with modern MVC frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
- Experienced in developing REST APIs and integrating with external APIs.
- Practical knowledge of relational databases and crafting efficient queries.
- Familiarity with project management tools for tracking tasks and issues.
- Participation in Agile teams and ceremonies.
- Experience with maintaining and refactoring existing applications.
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks, for instance, PHPUnit.
- Proficient in PHP (versions 7.x/8.x) and object-oriented programming.
- Strong understanding of MVC frameworks and principles of clean code.
- Basic knowledge of cloud hosting and deployments, preferably Azure.
- Front-end skills should include JavaScript, JQuery, and SASS/LESS, alongside familiarity with build tools (Webpack, Gulp, or Grunt).
- Exposure to modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, or Svelte.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and version control (Git).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Capability to foster a professional atmosphere in a dynamic environment with multiple interactions and interruptions.
- Ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and colleagues.
- Comfort around office pets (cats, dogs).
Responsibilities
As a PHP Developer, I will be responsible for building, enhancing, and sustaining the software and systems that drive our operations at Whisker. This includes supporting the fulfillment of our Litter-Robots, Feeder-Robots, and other innovative pet products. I will collaborate with various teams to grasp their challenges and assist in delivering solutions. My duties will encompass:
- Contributing to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of our operations management systems.
- Collaborating with operations, manufacturing, and shipping teams to understand challenges and formulate solutions.
- Translating requirements into incremental deliverables, providing accurate estimates, and participating in Agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retros).
- Writing, testing, and deploying clean, maintainable code across both back-end and front-end systems.
- Participating in code reviews and exchanging constructive feedback.
- Assisting in the design and maintenance of database schemas and queries.
- Developing and supporting integrations with third-party systems (e.g., shipping, returns, ERP).
- Troubleshooting and resolving system issues with urgency and meticulous attention.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation for system functionality and processes.
- Writing and maintaining unit and integration tests to ensure application reliability.
- Adhering to best practices in software development, including coding standards, testing, and Agile methodologies.
- Staying abreast of emerging technologies and suggesting enhancements for systems and processes.
- Completing additional responsibilities as needed.
