Requirements
Must:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary, along with experience in the hotel or a related field.
- Preferably, you will have at least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or similar environment.
- Coursework from a trade school or college in a relevant field is advantageous.
- Flexibility in working long hours may occasionally be required.
- Heavy lifting is part of this role; you should be able to exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds regularly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as you will interact with employees and guests in a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented manner.
- Effective listening skills and the ability to clarify concerns raised by employees and guests are crucial.
- You should be adept at multitasking and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- A friendly, courteous, and service-oriented approach is expected in all encounters with guests and employees.
- Attendance at all required meetings and training sessions is essential.
- Consistent attendance in accordance with Highgate Hotel Standards is expected, as determined by scheduling needs.
- High standards of personal appearance and grooming are required, including wearing the designated uniform and name tag.
- Adherence to Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations is necessary to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
- You will be expected to maximize productivity, identify areas for improvement, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Problem-solving skills are important, including the ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and resolve issues as they arise.
- The ability to understand and apply complex information from various sources to achieve objectives is required.
- You should be willing to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
- Maintaining confidentiality of information is a must.
- Demonstrating initiative, particularly in anticipating the needs of guests or operational requirements, is essential.
- You will be required to perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Responsibilities
- I will ensure that the property is always maintained optimally, minimizing inconvenience to customers and employees.
- I will make necessary repairs to the hotel air conditioning system, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
- I will carry out preventive maintenance on all equipment, such as boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
- Taking required readings on equipment will be part of my duties.
- I will test and record readings for cooling towers.
- I will replace and program televisions as needed.
- Light switches, receptacles, bulbs, and fixtures will be replaced by me as necessary.
- I will handle furniture repairs.
- I will replace and repair pumps as required.
- Plumbing repairs will be part of my responsibilities, including issues like clogged drains and replacing components.
- I will be capable of reading blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- I will trace and repair all types of water lines.
- Troubleshooting and repairing kitchen equipment will also be within my scope of work.
- I am required to maintain repair and preventive maintenance records diligently.
- I will ensure that all work complies with local, state, and federal codes.
- Testing, cleaning, and repairing swimming pools and spas will be part of my duties.
- I will paint designated areas as needed.
- Repairing and finishing sheetrock will also be part of my role.
- I will repair various types of wall coverings.
- I will repair and program the hotelโs electronic lock system as necessary.
