Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Over 2 years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering positions.
- Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with prototyping techniques, including 3D printing, conventional machining (milling, turning, CNC), laser cutting, and water jet cutting.
- Experience handling thermal components like heaters, thermometers, thermocouples, thermal-electric cooling systems, circulators, and thermal materials.
- Capability to develop basic graphical user interfaces using Python, LabVIEW, or similar programming tools.
- Background in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting hardware systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities coupled with effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Preferred: Experience with organic materials, chemical reactors, and development of fluidic systems with specific requirements for stirring, pumping, filtering, and compatibility.
Responsibilities
- Design and assemble mechanical and fluidic systems per the research teams specifications using both custom and standard components.
- Create and enhance electrical systems ensuring precise thermal regulation with PID controllers and various components.
- Develop straightforward graphical user interfaces allowing lab personnel to interact with the mechanical and electrical systems.
- Work collaboratively with researchers to continually refine designs based on team input.
- Maintain and update detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) for each project, aiding budgeting and cost efficiency.
- Keep comprehensive documentation of all engineering designs and technical specifications for internal and external sharing.
- Ensure that all engineering activities align with safety and regulatory standards in the laboratory environment.
