Requirements
Must:
- A minimum of 15 years experience in ride control software design, engineering, installation, and commissioning
- Proficient in fail-safe and safety-centric control system design
- Experience in developing requirements, test plans, procedures, and executing tests
- Extensive knowledge of ride control software architectures
- Strong understanding of communication protocols such as TCP/IP, CAN, serial, ProfiNET, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT
- Skilled in automated control software design utilizing functional safety concepts and standards
- Proven practice in functional safety standards, including IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849
- Familiarity with amusement and automation industry standards, including ASTM F2291
- Strong technical writing and communication abilities
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for periods ranging from one week to three months
- Capable of managing multiple complex projects concurrently while prioritizing tasks and responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Conduct design assurance activities in the development of standards and best practices, collaborating with ride engineering partners across Disney Experiences and the amusement ride sector
- Keep updated on and engage in the creation of company and industry standards and methodologies
- Take part in company committees and industry organizations focused on ride safety and design
- Enhance engineering processes to achieve project delivery and design assurance goals
- Engage in design assurance activities for ride project design reviews and testing while partnering with ride project teams
- Evaluate ride software designs to ensure they comply with industry and company standards
- Assess design quality and compliance with project requirements
- Provide guidance to project teams on optimal ride control software designs, safety analysis methods, and testing strategies
- Mentor and train ride control engineers
- Prepare and deliver training on Disney requirements and design practices internally
- Champion processes, standards, and practices that yield quality designs
- Support design engineers in overcoming technical challenges, adhering to standards, and applying methodologies
- Mentor ride engineers to achieve design excellence
