Requirements
Must:
- Over 10 years of experience in ride control system design, engineering, installation, and commissioning
- Skilled in fail-safe and safety-related control system design
- Experienced in requirements development, test plans and procedures, and test execution
- Extensive knowledge of ride control system architectures and equipment
- Strong understanding of communication protocols such as TCP/IP, CAN, serial, ProfiNET, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT
- Proficient in automated control system design using functional safety concepts and standards
- Demonstrated practice with functional safety standards like IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849
- Familiarity with amusement and automation industry standards, including ASTM F2291
- Excellent skills in technical documentation and communication
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for durations between 1 week to 3 months
- Capacity to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously, exert influence, and prioritize tasks
Responsibilities
- Conduct design assurance activities by developing standards and best practices in collaboration with ride engineering partners across Disney Experiences and the amusement ride sector
- Stay updated on and actively participate in the development of company and industry standards and methodologies
- Engage in company committees and industry organizations focused on ride safety and design
- Maintain and enhance engineering processes to fulfill project delivery and design assurance goals
- Conduct design assurance activities for ride project design reviews and testing, collaborating with ride project team members
- Review ride system design and test packages to ensure adherence to industry and company standards
- Evaluate whether designs are of sufficient quality and satisfy project requirements
- Advise project teams on optimal ride control system designs, safety analysis methods, and testing strategies
- Prepare and present Disney requirements and design practices for third-party training
- Provide mentorship and training to ride control engineers
- Prepare and present Disney requirements and design practices for internal training
- Advocate for processes, standards, and practices that yield high-quality designs
- Mentor and assist design engineers with technical challenges, standards, and methodologies
- Guide ride engineers in achieving design excellence
