Requirements

Must:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in ride control software design, engineering, installation, and commissioning - Expertise in fail-safe and safety-related control system architecture - Experience with requirements creation, as well as test plans and execution - Extensive knowledge of ride control software frameworks - Strong understanding of communication protocols, including TCP/IP, CAN, serial, ProfiNET, Ethernet/IP, and EtherCAT - Skilled in automated control software design adhering to functional safety principles and standards - Proven knowledge of functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 62061, and ISO 13849 - Familiarity with amusement and automation industry regulations, including ASTM F2291 - Excellent technical documentation and communication skills - Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally for varying durations - Ability to manage multiple complex projects effectively, influencing various stakeholders

Responsibilities

- Execute design assurance tasks in developing standards and best practices, collaborating with ride engineering peers across Disney Experiences and the amusement ride sector - Stay updated on and engage in the creation of company and industry standards and methodologies - Participate in company committees and industry organizations related to ride safety and design - Enhance engineering processes to fulfill project delivery and design assurance goals - Conduct design assurance reviews for ride project designs and testing in collaboration with project teams - Evaluate ride software designs to ensure compliance with industry and company standards - Assess the quality of designs to ensure they meet project specifications - Provide guidance to project teams on optimal ride control software designs, safety analysis techniques, and testing strategies - Mentor and train ride control engineers to elevate their skills - Prepare and deliver training on Disney requirements and design practices internally - Champion the processes, standards, and practices that foster high-quality designs - Assist design engineers in overcoming technical challenges, standards, and methodologies - Mentor ride engineers in achieving design excellence
