Requirements
Must:
- 7+ years of experience in data science, applied AI, or machine learning with a strong emphasis on personalization, conversational AI, or decision-making systems
- Proven technical leadership in experiences driven by large language models (LLMs), customer engagement modeling, or agentic applications
- In-depth expertise in hybrid modeling (LLM and structured ML), dialogue state modeling, or sequential decision processes
- Experience in crafting or improving persistent memory systems for user modeling
- Capability to transform innovative ideas into deployed, scalable systems with measurable outcomes
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a background in achieving consensus across science, product, and engineering teams
- Ph.D. or Masters degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a relevant domain is preferred
- Familiarity with conversational commerce, recommendation systems, or task-oriented dialogue agents is advantageous
- Knowledge of contextual bandits, reinforcement learning, or user modeling on a large scale
- Experience with memory-augmented LLMs or long-context transformer systems is a plus
- A history of contributions to open-source projects, publications, patents, or public speaking in applied AI or natural language processing (NLP)
Responsibilities
- Design and create models that facilitate agent-led engagement, including topic suggestion and conversation continuation based on user context and understanding
- Develop systems that integrate LLMs with traditional machine learning approaches to identify high-value engagement moments and select suitable actions or content
- Implement real-time ranking and decision-making systems that factor in customer history, behavioral cues, and state of conversation
- Establish and prototype memory frameworks that support ongoing customer profiles and adaptable preferences
- Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to embed memory and decision-making modules into the comprehensive conversational system
- Work closely with product, UX, and engineering teams to integrate proactive suggestions seamlessly and meaningfully within conversations
- Contribute to research and evaluation strategies to assess engagement, relevance, conversion rates, and long-term effectiveness
- Review system-level decisions to ensure safety, user experience, and alignment with brand values
- Act as a technical advisor and thought partner to the Director of Agent-Led Engagement and other senior leaders in agentic AI
