Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in data disciplines such as data governance, data engineering, or data architecture
- Educational background in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or related fields, supported by relevant certifications
- Familiarity with semantic layer technologies (e.g., dbt, databricks), SQL, data dimensional modeling, and BI tools
- Proven project management experience in initiating and implementing data and semantic layer governance initiatives
- Deep understanding of data management concepts, governance frameworks, and quality principles
- Experience with data cataloging and quality management tools (e.g., Alation catalog, Big Eye)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey standards and initiatives
- Ability to collaborate with data owners, stewards, and consumers to translate business needs into technical specifications
- Knowledge of data sources and transformation rules within data stewardship
- Experience in developing and managing metadata
Responsibilities
- Set the strategic vision for enterprise ontologies and semantic models to standardize business concepts across data domains
- Advise on or create enterprise semantic layers and business logic abstractions aimed at enabling analytics and AI, working alongside architects and stakeholders
- Ensure the identification and inclusion of business rules and KPIs into the semantic layer
- Manage new data initiatives and prioritize requirements with domain teams for key data elements
- Coordinate with domain teams to implement policies and maintain data sustainability through regular check-ins
- Define and validate requirements for data elements and contribute to the enterprise data catalog
- Review and update data lineage, business, and technical metadata as necessary
- Establish quality rules for data within specific domains
- Oversee the resolution of data quality issues in collaboration with data stewards and custodians
