Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- 3+ years of practical experience in systems engineering
- Background as a Systems Engineer or Project Engineer in an MSP or similar multi-environment infrastructure
- Proficient in executing defined project scopes with the ability to ask for guidance on complex tasks
- Solid understanding of Windows Server administration, including Active Directory and domain controllers
- Familiar with Microsoft cloud technologies such as Microsoft 365, Azure AD Entra, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Intune
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts including firewalls, VPNs, switching, and access points
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly when interacting with clients
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills to ensure smooth transitions to support teams
- Exhibits sound judgment by questioning assumptions and escalating unclear situations
- Driven to enhance technical skills and take on greater responsibilities in a Professional Services context
Responsibilities
- Execute infrastructure projects comprising server builds, migrations, and client onboarding
- Construct, configure, and transfer Windows Server environments, including domain controllers and file servers
- Support cloud deployments and migrations utilizing Azure AD Entra, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Intune
- Aid with tenant-to-tenant migrations and efforts for cloud modernization
- Configure and implement networking solutions like firewalls, VPNs, switching, and access points, seeking guidance when necessary
- Clearly communicate progress and technical details to clients and internal stakeholders
- Thoroughly document all tasks to ensure a seamless handoff to the Service Desk
- Identify ambiguous requirements, documentation gaps, or potential risks, and escalate as needed
- Adhere to standards while providing feedback aimed at refining processes and documentation
Description
We are a Professional Services organization seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer to join our team. This role provides significant exposure and opportunities for growth within our infrastructure projects across servers, networking, and the Microsoft cloud stack. You will collaborate with seasoned engineers on complex projects in a hybrid remote setting in Downers Grove, IL.
