Requirements
Must:
- 4-5+ years of backend development experience in Odoo (preferably Odoo v15-v17)
- Strong proficiency in Python 3.x with an emphasis on creating clean, robust, and testable code
- In-depth knowledge of the Odoo ORM and module structure including installation, upgrades, and data migrations
- Proven track record in restructuring monolithic applications into smaller, modular components, ideally within the Odoo ecosystem
- Experience with Linux over SSH, including managing file systems and basic troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Docker for managing Odoo deployments, including commands for execution, restarts, and log management
- Expertise in maintaining a structured branching model in version control, particularly with Git
- Strong skills in code review for identifying high-risk patterns specific to Odoo and assuring coding standards are met
- Excellent attention to detail and a disciplined approach towards risk management
- Strong communication skills for articulating release scope, impacts, and rollback strategies
- Ability to simplify existing processes and documentation
Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete release lifecycle, determining the timing and environments for deployments
- Serve as the final technical reviewer for all code intended for the main branch, ensuring rigorous coding standards are upheld
- Manage hotfixes, execute rollback plans, and lead the technical resolution for production incidents with a keen eye on process improvement
- Actively contribute to the strategic transformation from a monolithic Odoo code base into smaller, manageable modules or microservices
- Maintain and enhance deployment and infrastructure scripts, focusing on continuous automation improvements
- Operate comfortably within a Linux environment via SSH, managing Docker container operations, updates, and performing PostgreSQL diagnostics
- Keep updated and accurate release documentation, runbooks, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Description
We are looking for a meticulous and seasoned Release Owner with expertise in Odoo development and DevOps principles. In this vital role, you will be the final gatekeeper for all code deployed to production, guaranteeing the safety, stability, and consistency of our release pipeline. Your responsibilities will include managing our expanding release train, addressing incidents, and spearheading strategic improvements to our deployment infrastructure. By applying DevOps best practices, you will help transition our current monolithic Odoo architecture into a series of smaller, modular services and repositories. This position offers the flexibility of remote work and includes a competitive pay range of $40.00 to $80.00 per hour, with an expected commitment of 40 hours per week.
