Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science or relevant technical experience
- 5+ years in the IT Risk Management field or equivalent relevant work experience
- Security technology background with strong knowledge of relevant technical security disciplines
- Takes calculated risks, empowering innovative approaches while motivating others
- Able to coach, mentor, and identify skill gaps in team members
- Proficient in facilitating effective meetings and influencing participants
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to engage at all levels and relate to customers
- Capable of championing change and guiding teams through transitions
- Demonstrates critical thinking and challenges conventional wisdom to gain a competitive edge
- Knowledgeable in applicable regulations, including GLPA, HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA
- Familiar with security and control frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27001, CobIT, and ITIL
- Certifications such as CRISC, CISSP, CISM, or CISA are advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and assess the effectiveness of the organizations policy governance, risk assessments, control attestation, and issues management capabilities
- Maintain a prioritized, risk-aligned backlog of tasks that supports program development and satisfies regulatory and business requirements
- Assist team members in prioritizing assessments, policy activities, and control-related tasks based on risks and business value
- Proactively eliminate barriers and operational hurdles to ensure timely completion of assessments and governance tasks
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate risk management objectives into actionable items
- Ensure best-practice execution with structured methodologies, clear documentation, consistent issue tracking, and quality evidence collection
- Foster creativity and continuous improvement in governance, assessment, and control processes while nurturing a culture of innovation
- Utilize operational metrics and insights to evaluate team performance and enhance process efficiency
- Partner with leadership to ensure skilled talent is present to meet governance, risk, and compliance responsibilities
- Mentor and motivate team members to enhance their GRC expertise and overall performance
- Identify training needs regarding risk frameworks and regulatory requirements to improve team capabilities
- Promote cross-training to enhance team resilience and shared ownership of GRC functions
- Encourage a self-organizing, collaborative team culture focused on accountability and improvement
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to track progress and address skill gaps
- Collaborate with colleagues to assess the efficiency of resourcing models and suggest enhancements
- Stay informed about emerging regulatory trends and control expectations to drive program improvements
- Ensure the team prioritizes high-value, high-risk activities and commitments
- Design and manage GRC processes tailored to partner teams needs to ensure clarity and ease of execution.
