Requirements
Must:
- I hold a bachelor's degree in a related field or possess equivalent experience and training.

- I have worked in professional IT support roles, utilizing customer relationship management systems (like ticketing systems).
- I demonstrate a strong customer service orientation, complemented by relevant skills and experience.
- I have general knowledge and proficiency with various technologies, including both Microsoft and Apple computers, personal productivity and enterprise software, mobile devices, audio/video equipment, web and video conferencing tools, network technology, and IT infrastructure systems.
- I have experience delivering on-site technical support, which includes the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of printers and other peripheral devices.
- I am adept at managing multiple complex tasks that are not always clearly defined, especially under heavy workloads, tight deadlines, and shifting priorities, all while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
- I can read and interpret technical manuals, specifications, and instructions and am eager to develop skills and learn new technologies.
- I am skilled at crafting customer-oriented documentation to explain technology clearly, creating web pages, and providing various forms of written documentation.
- I have experience conducting training sessions for the division using various delivery methods (in-person, video, webinar, etc.) to facilitate the use and adoption of technology.
- I possess experience and knowledge of essential applications, including MS Office, MS Active Directory, Exchange, and common IT service management tools.
- I have significant experience managing Windows, web, and file servers within a domain environment, including the setup and configuration of DNS, DHCP, FTP, HTTP, and SMTP services. I also have experience with managing VoIP and data communication networks that involve routers, firewalls, and switches.
- I am familiar with various cloud technologies, including their configuration, report development, integration with other technologies via APIs, and single sign-on approaches.
Responsibilities
- I will provide front-line technical support across a wide array of IT services, ensuring timely and effective resolution of employee issues.
- I will manage the IT ticket queue, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, provide on-site support, and assist with system access and configurations.
- I may collaborate with other IT teams on system administration, security, and development tasks.
- I will serve as the primary point of contact for ANR employees and affiliates within our service desk, addressing moderately complex technology needs and problems that may affect individual and departmental technology.
- I will provide proactive phone and in-person assistance, prioritize tasks, and log service requests in our tracking system.
- Installation and configuration of hardware and software, including operating systems and various applications, will be part of my duties.
- I may need to travel occasionally to remote ANR offices to provide in-person support or for maintenance needs and projects.
- I will provide Tier 2 support for ANR applications, performing complex reviews and analyses of support requests and making recommendations to prevent future issues.
- I will lead application administration for various cloud service applications, ensuring proper configuration and maintenance of these tools.
- I will provide training and create documentation for ANR staff on important technologies, as well as develop technical procedures to enhance our community's technology usage and support.
Description
- This position is a fixed, career appointment within the IT Services department, primarily based in Davis, CA, with eligibility for hybrid flexible work arrangements for applicants residing in California. Note that these arrangements are subject to change by the University. - The pay scale for this position is $31.85 to $44.25 per hour, and the job will remain open until filled, with an initial review of applications scheduled for September 8, 2025. - Special conditions of employment include the possession of a valid California Driver's License to operate a County or University vehicle, the ability to travel as needed, and proof of liability damage insurance for any vehicle used. Reimbursement for job-related travel follows University policies. - The University reserves the right to make hiring contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. As this is a designated position, a background check may include fingerprinting due to the job's responsibilities. We do consider candidates with conviction histories while evaluating their suitability in relation to job responsibilities. - We maintain a smoke- and tobacco-free environment, strictly prohibiting smoking and the use of unregulated nicotine products. - It is essential to exercise discretion in managing sensitive information that may be encountered during this role.
