Requirements

Must:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training. - Minimum of 7 years of experience in leading and managing a medium-sized IT organization/function. - 2 to 5 years of experience at a senior management level in a medium-sized IT environment. - Demonstrated experience in hiring, supervising, managing, and guiding technical teams. - Extensive knowledge of information technology principles, practices, and concepts. - Proven experience in managing technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion, including identifying and integrating suitable emerging technologies. - Experience in adapting and integrating existing programs or vendor-supplied products in a complex technical environment. - Capable of managing multi-platform environments to support a broad array of constituents. - Proven knowledge of computer hardware, software, and vendor IT products. - Strong ability to understand the needs of diverse user groups and meet those needs effectively. - Experience in developing, presenting, and managing IT budgets, plans, and forecasts for various audiences, including senior executives, alongside strong financial management skills. - Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical topics to diverse audiences, including senior management. - Proven ability to conceptualize, launch, manage, and deliver multiple IT projects that meet organizational objectives within budget and on schedule, relying on consensus and collaboration. - In-depth knowledge of information security best practices, frameworks, and response activities. - Previous leadership roles in institution-wide technology solutions focusing on process improvement and organizational change management. - Experienced in managing IT in a highly dispersed environment catering to varied support needs for statewide programs. - Ability to craft and communicate a vision regarding the future role of information technology in higher education, highlighting how advancements can offer competitive advantages.

Responsibilities

- I oversee a multi-unit IT department with multiple direct reports and over 25 FTE, ensuring high customer satisfaction and quality service delivery. - I am responsible for staffing and performance management, as well as fostering a supportive work environment. - I implement and administer UC ANR's IT infrastructure, resources, applications, and processes, making strategic decisions on information systems to achieve objectives. - I develop an optimal operating model that balances centralization and decentralization while ensuring secure, mission-critical technology platforms for daily operations. - Adhering to IT budgets and schedules is key, as I assess and optimize the current applications portfolio and improve services in collaboration with stakeholders. - I work with functional units to identify and implement technological solutions that enhance business processes. - I promote the adoption of digital tools, including AI innovations, to improve communication and collaboration across the organization. - Close collaboration with the Chief Information Security Officer is essential to maintain robust information security and privacy strategies. - I cultivate a service-oriented culture within UC ANR, aligning IT resources with institutional objectives. - I lead initiatives aimed at evolving the IT Governance structure, establishing priorities and addressing risks. - My role includes guiding the funding strategy for technology investments and advising senior management on security and situational risks related to information technology.

This position is a fixed career appointment based in Davis, CA, with eligibility for hybrid work arrangements for applicants residing in California. The salary range is $138,700 to $207,700 per year.
