Brake and Alignment Technician

- Provide technical support to administrative staff, faculty, and students - Manage user accounts for network access and email - Maintain accurate inventories of IT equipment - Install and repair audiovisual equipment for various events - Diagnose and resolve issues with software, operating systems, hardware, and other technical components - Install, verify, and update software on micro-computers - Troubleshoot issues related to micro-computers and their components - Recommend, install, and maintain servers and micro-computers - Maintain essential systems including virtual servers, antivirus solutions, backups, and network links with the University of Ottawa - Offer basic support for institutional systems such as PaperCut and Raisers Edge - Enforce IT policies and procedures while monitoring network components - Conduct tests and implement system changes, documenting procedures for installation and user guidance - Ensure uninterrupted service of the Universitys network infrastructure and servers, recommending necessary upgrades - Monitor network performance, conduct backups, and perform diagnostics and repairs - Promote system and data security - Stay informed about new technology trends - Automate and integrate systems requiring programming - Maximize the effective use of equipment and software - Identify and advocate improvements for enhanced IT use. - Provide proactive solutions and recommendations to the supervisor - Contribute to short- and medium-term strategic IT planning - Attend IT representatives meetings and collaborate with IT services at the University of Ottawa - Identify training needs for users and serve as a resource person - Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
