Requirements
Must:
- A high school diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Preferably, at least three years in DRG and/or PCS coding.
- Experience in communicating, training, and educating providers for proficiency.
- Familiarity with coding guidelines, anatomy, physiology, biology, microbiology, medical terminology, and abbreviations.
- One of the following certifications: CCS - Certified Coding Specialist (AHIMA), RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator (AHIMA), or RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician (AHIMA).

Responsibilities
- Select records from EPIC WQ based on priority.
- Review all federally insured and other patient discharge encounters for precision in coding and sequencing of diagnoses and procedures.
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes, inputting them into the EPIC Encoder.
- Identify responsible staff and resident physicians related to each coded procedure.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Engage in section meetings and office training sessions.
- Attend and participate in coding educational workshops.
- Stay updated on coding knowledge and skills through ongoing education activities and relevant literature review.
- Achieve required CEUs for certification and complete any mandated educational sessions.
- Manage coding-related charge reviews and claim adjustments daily to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- Uphold productivity and quality standards in accordance with coding compliance and federal regulations.
