Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related area with a Core Quantitative Curriculum. (4 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree)
- Minimum of 6 years experience in model validation, model development, statistical analysis, and/or advanced quantitative research, or an advanced degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in conveying quantitative and technical concepts to non-technical audiences, senior leadership, auditors, and regulators, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in programming languages including R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, and/or other similar languages for model and algorithm development, encompassing model specifications, assumption testing, data quality assessments, variable selection, back-testing, benchmarking, and other comprehensive model testing.
- Extensive experience in at least three of the following methodologies: Unsupervised Learning; K-Means; Linear Regression; Time-Series/Forecasting; Stress Testing; Logistic Regression; Gaussian Process; Simulation Models; Boosting/Bagging Trees; Neural Networks; Deep Learning Concepts; and Bayesian Estimators.
- Strong understanding of operational and support functions in Banking and/or Insurance, along with relevant modeling and analytics expertise.
Responsibilities
- Execute independent model validation oversight for high-risk in-house and vendor models.
- Employ expert technical strategies to formulate and apply model validation testing plans.
- Replicate model development and potentially create challenger models utilizing predictive modeling, machine learning, deep learning, time-series modeling/forecasting, stress testing, heuristic models, actuarial models, simulation, optimization, and/or other highly specialized techniques.
- Design and conduct comprehensive plans for model testing and data quality assessments using diverse datasets, including substantial and unstructured data.
- Critically review the entire lifecycle management of models in Banking and Insurance, including their development, implementation, continuous monitoring, and business support functions.
- Evaluate model risk ratings, assess the material impact of model changes, and conduct validations for all model types.
- Supervise and mentor peers in model validation efforts.
- Generate and present validation reports and associated validation work to management, model partners, and senior leaders.
- Implement model validation processes in alignment with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
- Assess model risk control strengths in development, implementation, and usage of models.
- Stay professionally updated on new modeling techniques and methodologies.
