Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields with a core quantitative foundation.
- Four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in model validation, model development, statistical analysis, and/or advanced quantitative research OR an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, PhD) in a quantitative field along with 4 years of experience in similar areas.
- Proven ability to communicate complex quantitative/technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, senior management, auditors, and/or regulatory bodies.
- Strong programming expertise in R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, and/or similar programming languages for comprehensive model and algorithm development processes.
- Extensive familiarity with at least three of the following methodologies: Unsupervised Learning, K-Means, Linear Regression, Time-Series Forecasting, Stress Testing, Logistic Regression, Gaussian Processes, Simulation Models, Boosting/Bagging Trees, Neural Networks, Deep Learning methods, Bayesian Estimators.
- Strong understanding of the operational and support functions in Banking and/or Insurance, along with associated modeling and analytics knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Execute independent model validation control activities for high-risk in-house and vendor models.
- Utilize advanced technical methodologies to craft and implement validation testing plans.
- Replicate model development as necessary and potentially create challenger models using various advanced techniques such as predictive modeling, machine learning, deep learning, and more.
- Create comprehensive testing plans and conduct data quality assessments for models using diverse datasets, including large and unstructured data.
- Review the complete lifecycle of model development, implementation, ongoing monitoring, and operational processes in Banking and Insurance sectors.
- Evaluate model inherent risk ratings, assess model declassifications, and validate changes to models accordingly.
- Guide and supervise the model validation efforts of team members.
- Prepare and present validation reports to model validation management, partners, senior leadership, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure the model validation process aligns with risk and compliance policies and practices.
- Analyze model risk control strengths throughout model development and usage phases.
- Advance professional knowledge in innovative modeling techniques and methodologies.
