Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline like Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with a Core Quantitative Curriculum.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in model validation, model development, statistical analysis, and/or advanced quantitative research, or an advanced degree combined with 4 years of experience.
- Proficiency in effectively communicating quantitative/technical concepts to non-technical audiences, senior leadership, auditors, and regulators, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong programming proficiency in languages such as R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, or other relevant languages for model and algorithm development including tasks like assumption testing and benchmarking.
- Extensive experience with at least three statistical or predictive modeling approaches, such as Unsupervised Learning, Linear Regression, Time-Series Analysis, Stress Testing, and Neural Networks.
- In-depth understanding of the operational and support functions within Banking and/or Insurance, in addition to relevant modeling and analytical knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Implement independent model validation controls for high-risk models developed in-house and by vendors.
- Utilize advanced technical methods to create and execute validation testing plans.
- Replicate model development processes and potentially create challenger models through various sophisticated techniques including machine learning and simulation.
- Design and execute model testing and data quality evaluations using diverse datasets, including large and unstructured data.
- Review and manage the lifecycle of model development, ongoing monitoring, and utilization in Banking and Insurance sectors.
- Evaluate inherent model risks, perform model change validations, and oversee others engaged in model validation activities.
- Generate and present validation reports to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to risk and compliance policies throughout the model validation process.
- Assess strengths of model risk controls in relation to their development and application.
- Stay updated on emerging modeling methodologies and practices.
