Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field with a strong quantitative focus.
- Four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience in model validation, development, statistical analysis, and/or advanced quantitative research OR an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative field with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to communicate complex quantitative and technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders, senior leaders, auditors, and regulatory bodies both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient programming skills in R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, or other similar programming languages relevant for model and algorithm development.
- Extensive experience with at least three statistical, econometric, or predictive modeling methodologies such as Unsupervised Learning, Linear Regression, Time-Series Forecasting, Stress Testing, and Neural Networks.
- Strong understanding of operational and support functions in Banking and/or Insurance, coupled with relevant modeling and analytical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Execute independent model validation control activities for both high-risk internal and vendor models.
- Utilize expert technical methodologies to create and implement validation testing plans.
- Replicate model development processes and potentially create challenger models through methods such as predictive modeling, machine learning, and deep learning.
- Develop and execute plans for model testing and data quality evaluations using diverse datasets, including large and unstructured data.
- Review the entire lifecycle of model development, implementation, monitoring, and usage in Banking and Insurance sectors.
- Assess inherent model risk ratings, manage model change classifications, and perform validations for model modifications.
- Supervise and guide the model validation work of team members.
- Prepare and present validation reports to management, model partners, senior executives, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Align the model validation processes with established risk and compliance policies and regulations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of model risk controls concerning model development and implementation.
- Stay informed on emerging modeling techniques and best practices.
