Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related area with a Core Quantitative Curriculum. (Alternatively, 4 additional years of relevant experience may replace a degree).
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in model validation, model development, statistical analysis, and/or advanced quantitative research, or an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) with 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven ability to communicate quantitative and technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders, senior leaders, auditors, and regulators.
- Proficient programming abilities in R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, or equivalent languages for developing models and algorithms, including model specifications and testing.
- Extensive familiarity with at least three quantitative modeling techniques such as Unsupervised Learning, K-Means, Linear Regression, Time-Series Forecasting, Stress Testing, Logistic Regression, Gaussian Processes, Simulation Models, Boosting/Bagging Trees, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, or Bayesian Estimators.
- Strong understanding of the operational and support functions in Banking and/or Insurance, along with relevant modeling and analytics knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Execute independent validation procedures for high-risk in-house and vendor models.
- Utilize expert technical knowledge to design and apply model validation testing strategies.
- Replicate model development and create challenger models using various advanced techniques like predictive modeling and machine learning.
- Formulate and execute model testing and data quality evaluations for different types of datasets, including large and unstructured ones.
- Review the end-to-end management of model development, implementation, monitoring, and application within Banking and Insurance sectors.
- Evaluate inherent risk ratings, model declassification, and perform validations for model changes across various types of models.
- Oversee and guide the model validation efforts of team members.
- Prepare and present validation findings and reports to validation management and senior leadership.
- Ensure alignment of the model validation process with established risk and compliance standards.
- Assess model risk control measures related to development, implementation, and usage.
- Engage in continuous professional development regarding new modeling techniques and methodologies.
