Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with core quantitative curriculum.
- Four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- A minimum of 6 years of related experience in model validation, model development, statistical analysis, and/or advanced quantitative research OR an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, PhD) in a quantitative field with 4 years of related experience.
- Proficient in communicating complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences, senior leadership, auditors, and/or regulators.
- Strong programming skills in R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, and/or other similar programming languages for model and algorithm development.
- Extensive experience with at least three statistical, econometric, data science, and predictive modeling techniques such as Unsupervised Learning, K-Means, Linear Regression, Time-Series/Forecasting, Stress Testing, Logistic Regression, and Neural Networks.
- Solid understanding of operational and support functions in Banking and/or Insurance, along with corresponding modeling and analytics knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Execute independent model validation control activities for high-risk in-house and vendor models.
- Develop and implement validation testing plans using expert technical methodologies.
- Replicate model development and may create challenger models employing predictive modeling, machine learning, and other advanced techniques.
- Design and execute model testing and data quality assessments utilizing diverse datasets, including large and unstructured data.
- Review and oversee the complete life-cycle management of model development, implementation, ongoing monitoring, and operational processes in Banking and Insurance.
- Evaluate model inherent risk ratings and conduct model change validations across various types of models.
- Supervise and mentor model validation efforts of peers.
- Produce and present validation reports and related documentation to management and stakeholders.
- Align model validation process with established risk and compliance policies and procedures.
- Assess strengths in model risk control surrounding development, implementation, and usage.
