Requirements

Must:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, economics, finance, actuarial sciences, engineering, or a related quantitative field. - 10 years of progressive experience in predictive analytics or data analysis, including 6 years of experience in training and validating statistical, physical, machine learning, and other advanced analytics models. - 6 years of experience with at least one dynamic scripting language (such as Python or R), focusing on writing clear, well-documented code with necessary comments for logic explanation. - Expertise in classical supervised modeling for predictions, including linear/logistic models, discriminant analysis, support vector machines, and decision trees. - Expertise in unsupervised modeling techniques like k-means clustering and hierarchical clustering. - Extensive hands-on experience with building, deploying, and managing the performance of advanced analytics solutions. - Proven history of delivering innovative solutions that enhance business adoption and value. - Significant project management experience with the ability to foresee and effectively address project milestones, risks, and challenges. - A track record of clear communication and escalation of potential issues to leadership. - Experience in guiding and mentoring junior technical staff in business interactions and model development. - Demonstrated ability to convey complex technology decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences at various organizational levels. - Experience leading transformations in business or product portfolios through advanced analytics.

Responsibilities

- Identify, research, and define large-scale AI/ML use cases in partnership with business leaders, executive peers, and strategic partners. - Steer end-to-end efforts to create scalable, efficient, and highly performant AI/ML solutions. - Utilize deep expertise to enhance the impact of modeling techniques on emerging business initiatives. - Work alongside IT architects to design, implement, monitor, and scale innovative AI/ML solutions that evolve prototypes into new products, services, and features. - Ensure AI/ML solutions are developed based on industry best practices and sound methodologies. - Collaborate with model risk partners to foster a culture of regulatory compliance. - Design complex information assets to facilitate applied analytics. - Coordinate with engineering, data, and information architects to manage well-governed and documented datasets from various structured and unstructured sources. - Seek opportunities to modernize and standardize the model development lifecycle. - Provide expert technical guidance by evaluating vendor acquisitions. - Contribute to talent and recruitment initiatives by engaging in communities of practice and technical interview panels. - Clearly articulate complex analytical and technical concepts to diverse audiences, promoting data literacy and informing business priorities. - Provide technical oversight in establishing a robust library of reusable algorithms and production-quality code. - Develop and maintain academic and industry relationships for research. - Represent USAA at key internal and external technology and advanced analytics conferences. - Ensure that risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in line with risk and compliance policies.
