Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree; or 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 10 years of experience in the Information Technology industry, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership position.
- Experience in technology application development or infrastructure and operational implementation.
- In-depth knowledge in at least one technology domain, focusing on application, infrastructure, operations, scalability, availability, performance, process, and tools.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technology concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated experience in building trust and effective communication with frontline and management stakeholders.
- Understanding of technical architecture standards, principles, and associated regulations and risk management practices.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to grasp strategy, requirements, measures, risks, and controls relevant to a business function or IT domain.
- Leverage expertise to make informed technology decisions, creating relevant architecture artifacts and proactively developing evolutionary strategies and roadmaps.
- Build strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders and engineering teams to guide priority setting, cost transparency, and execution of architectural solutions.
- Evaluate domain applications alongside business and application owners to discern strengths, weaknesses, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide advisement to business owners on potential courses of action.
- Establish and document architecture standards to ensure compliance in technology solutions.
- Utilize risk assessment methods to draft, evaluate, and approve or reject waivers to architecture standards.
- Participate in activities supporting the USAA technology ecosystem, including workstream planning, design reviews, and troubleshooting.
- Offer professional and technical mentorship to new architects and IT colleagues in a respectful and flexible manner, seeking opportunities to create team redundancy.
- Maintain and enhance architectural domain documentation, ensuring timely delivery of agreed upon tasks.
- Develop external relationships with industry organizations and vendors related to technology domains.
- Pursue external eminence through professional certifications, conference presentations, publications, and contributions to open-source projects.
