Requirements

Must:
- A Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience may be considered in place of a degree. - At least 6 years of relevant experience in Security Engineering and/or Information Technology with a security emphasis, including experience leading enterprise technology projects or initiatives. - A minimum of 4 years of experience delivering technology solutions throughout all phases of a solution development lifecycle. - Proven track record in guiding security strategies, solutions, and initiatives with the ability to steer these efforts to successful completion. - Hands-on experience with modern programming/scripting languages and frameworks. - Experience in designing, implementing, and leading security engineering activities using modern DevSecOps practices. - Demonstrated success with agile delivery methods and the desire to be adaptable while providing frequent value. - Capability to address complex production issues through troubleshooting applications and systems. - Familiarity with platform engineering concepts regarding security best practices, including infrastructure/policy as code, security architecture design patterns, security vendor integrations, and CI/CD pipelines with integrated application security controls. - Experience in implementing event-driven security architecture, methods, and controls. - Knowledgeable in advising on security architecture, methods, and controls necessary for meeting security, compliance, and audit standards. - Understanding of cloud and emerging technologies such as Public Cloud, Containerization, Security Data Lakes, Machine Learning/Language Models, and Generative AI.

Responsibilities

- Ensure that security requirements are properly addressed in every aspect of solution/application enablement and sustainment lifecycle. - Design, develop, code, integrate, and test complex cross-functional technical solutions with a strong focus on security, often working alongside Engineers or Architects outside of the team/department. - Lead the team in conducting code/design reviews and fostering engineering efficiencies to ensure effective operations and precise planning. - Support the resolution of intricate production issues and troubleshoot end-to-end solutions that span multiple applications and systems. - Collaborate with architecture to define directions for key technologies across specific security domains. - Drive community impact through active participation in internal and external training opportunities, conferences, blogging, and engagement with professional societies, advisory boards, and consortiums. - Apply Site Reliability Engineering practices within the domain. - Monitor and manage risks related to domain activities effectively, adhering to risk and compliance policies and procedures. - Facilitate cross-functional contributions as a subject matter expert in the domain. - Oversee the monitoring and troubleshooting of complex systems, tools, and vendor integrations. - Conduct continuous research, analysis, and troubleshooting to identify, resolve, and report highly intricate security issues. - Collaborate with Security Analysts, IT, and Business Partners to optimize, fortify, and improve Security solutions and technologies in line with current trends and threats. - Offer mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development, and ensure the team remains up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies.

We are proud to present an exciting opportunity within our Cyber Threat Fusion & Emulation (CTFE) Team for the position of Cyber Threat Intelligence Senior Engineer. In this role, I will entrust you with the operation and maintenance of USAA’s Cyber Threat Intelligence infrastructure and malware analysis capabilities. Your contributions will be pivotal to our Cyber Threat Operation Center (CTOC) mission, facilitating the development and integration of threat-centric analytical capabilities essential to bolster our Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) initiatives. Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is esteemed as USAA’s leading cyber intelligence program, dedicated to supporting the CTOC, which exists to detect, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity incidents. This position requires a commitment to being present in the office 4 days per week, with potential locations available in San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Charlotte, NC. Note that relocation assistance is not provided for this role.
