Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or two years of specialized experience
- Experience in designing, developing, and implementing computer systems
- Proficiency in automation, AI-enhanced solutions, and business-critical systems
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Articulate communication skills for conveying technical concepts clearly
- Capacity to work independently in analyzing and solving complex problems
- Availability for occasional travel
- Ability to lift and move moderately heavy items such as computer equipment
- Preferred familiarity with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, .NET, Python, and PowerShell
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with judges and court executives to provide technical advice on automation
- Guide technology solution purchasing and software architecture strategies
- Design and develop applications using Power Apps, Power Automate, and similar technologies
- Administer IIS and Windows web services, ensuring secure and efficient operations
- Implement Robotic Process Automation for repetitive tasks
- Integrate systems via API interoperability and secure authentication methods
- Optimize SQL queries and manage database performance
- Recommend strategies for automation and AI implementation
- Maintain communication with IT personnel to stay updated on technological advancements
- Assist in troubleshooting automated systems and identify root causes of failures
- Establish secure governance practices for data management
- Implement long-term technology improvements with minimal disruption
- Develop data pipelines and ETL processes for reporting purposes
- Create prototype applications that incorporate AI and automation
- Manage projects from inception to delivery, including timelines and resource allocation
- Evaluate emerging technologies for cost-effectiveness and modernization
- Support peers in application development and automation workflows
- Provide end-user support for courtroom technology and remote hearings
- Complete other tasks as assigned
Description
We are the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, located primarily in Charleston with additional sites in Beckley, Bluefield, and Huntington. Our dedicated team of over 100 employees supports five active Article III judges and two senior Article III judges, as well as three magistrate judges.
