Requirements
Must:
- Licensed and in good standing with the relevant state bar association or attorney licensing authority.
- Over 10 years of legal expertise, predominantly in financial services, technology, or regulatory advisory.
- Proficient understanding of AI and machine learning technology, privacy regulations, and data governance.
- Proven capacity to manage complex, cross-functional projects in heavily regulated settings.
- Superior communication skills, adept at translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with generative AI, large language models, and advanced data analytics.
- Experience in-house at a major financial institution, fintech company, payments provider, or regulatory body.
- Knowledge of international AI frameworks, including the EU AI Act and emerging U.S. legislation.
- Comfort with data science principles and terminology.
- Previous leadership experience of a legal team focused on technology or AI governance.
Responsibilities
- Provide interpretation and guidance on new AI-related laws, regulations, and directives (e.g., banking regulations, consumer protection, data privacy).
- Monitor international regulatory changes regarding AI and machine learning and evaluate their implications for business strategy and operations.
- Collaborate with risk management and technology teams to assess legal risks related to training data, model transparency, bias reduction, and output evaluation.
- Offer actionable legal advice during the design and implementation of generative AI and automated decision-making systems.
- Assist the Procurement team in reviewing and negotiating contracts with AI vendors, cloud providers, and data licensors.
- Educate the Law Division and business leaders about potential legal risks and opportunities linked to AI.
- Work alongside Legal Operations to establish a strategy for the Law Divisions application of AI.
