Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a similar field
- Over 7 years of progressive experience in facilities HVAC and control systems
- In-depth understanding of control theory, advanced HVAC systems, and building automation protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus)
- Proficient with prominent BMS platforms (e.g., ALC, Tridium, JCI, Siemens)
- Proven ability to define and implement multi-site control network standards and data strategies
- Expertise in applying and auditing projects against major industry standards and codes (e.g., ASHRAE, Title 24, LEED)
- Strong mentorship abilities to develop junior and mid-level engineers
- Demonstrated capacity to oversee multiple large-scale projects while effectively communicating complex technical data to leadership
- Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives within an organization
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and risk management skills for critical systems
Responsibilities
- Spearhead and take full accountability for engineering design reviews and technical evaluations of control operation sequences and program logic
- Manage the Commissioning Review process to confirm that all functional performance tests validate system designs
- Conduct field inspections throughout project implementation to foresee potential risks and deviations from approved designs
- Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to guarantee project requirements are fulfilled and resolve design issues efficiently
- Identify and drive continuous improvement by proactively addressing process inefficiencies and developing enhancement strategies
- Oversee the completion and ownership of all KPI Reporting and key strategic program initiatives
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
- Offer controls-specific guidance and technical leadership to the mechanical engineering team and provide mentorship to junior controls engineers
- Ensure the successful installation and configuration of BMS and/or BOS hardware and software
- Develop and supervise comprehensive commissioning plans, utilizing junior team members for execution
- Troubleshoot and address complex system issues during commissioning and operational phases
- Conduct controls program evaluations and assess operating trends, alarms, and data to validate system performance
- Monitor system performance consistently to identify optimization opportunities
