Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or related field, or 3+ years of equivalent professional experience.
- Over 5 years of experience with PLC-controlled automation, including Ladder Logic and structured programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys) along with diagnosis of issues in production settings.
- At least 2 years of experience working with robotics cells, control systems, electrical theory, controls components, and automated equipment.
- Leadership experience in directing, training, and coaching automation engineers.
- Strong proficiency in CMMS usage, troubleshooting, and coordinating maintenance with various stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, policy interpretation abilities, and a mindset geared towards continuous improvement.
- Adaptability to evolving technologies and capacity to build scalable automation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical authority on-site for automation control systems and oversee the sites automation engineering initiatives.
- Establish program objectives, assign tasks, and mentor Automation Engineers and Apprentices to meet client needs and adhere to safety and technical standards.
- Design, develop, implement, and optimize control systems and software; maintain and troubleshoot automation systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks.
- Oversee all automation documentation and manage change processes for the site.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and support teams to enhance material handling systems and execute projects.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support and escalation assistance, including remote support, root cause analysis, and vendor coordination.
- Monitor system performance, initiate continuous improvement projects, and communicate technical challenges, timelines, and workarounds to stakeholders.
