Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead, instruct, and support junior automation engineers
- Expertise in CMMS and adept at troubleshooting while coordinating complex maintenance tasks with various stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interpreting and relaying policies effectively
- Strong analytical abilities, adaptability, and dedication to ongoing improvement
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Over 2 years of experience with PLC programming, diagnostics, and design of HMI/control networks, as well as familiarity with SCADA systems and performance metrics
- Practical knowledge of motor controls (VFDs, DC drives, starters) and electrical systems (480V 3-phase, 120VAC, 24VDC)
- Proficient in RSLogix5000 Studio, FT View, and other control software, along with exposure to control design and system integration
- Capacity to read, amend, and create mechanical and electrical schematics
- Experience in field service engineering and technical training, including conveyors, sortation systems, ASRS, and industrial robotics
- Proven success in remote technical assistance and enhancing automation systems
Responsibilities
- Act as the sites authority on automation control systems, providing mentorship to Apprentices to uphold safety and technical standards
- Design, develop, implement, and enhance control systems and software while also maintaining and diagnosing equipment, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
- Follow stringent documentation and Automation Change Management protocols
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and support teams to refine MHE systems and execute projects
- Track MHE performance metrics, investigate issues, and spearhead troubleshooting efforts both on-site and remotely
- Conduct root cause analyses, propose process enhancements, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to achieve performance and cost efficiencies
- Convey technical challenges, project timelines, and operational alternatives to leadership and relevant stakeholders
