Requirements
Must:
- A Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field
- Over 7 years of experience in cloud security, security architecture, or security engineering roles, preferably in SaaS or regulated industries
- Proven knowledge of AWS security services and secure cloud architecture
- Practical experience with corporate security and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, CJIS, FedRAMP), along with a solid understanding of NIST 800-53 controls, CJIS Security Policy, and FedRAMP baselines
- A demonstrated record as a customer-focused security or compliance leader, particularly with government stakeholders, public safety clients, and external auditors
- Deep knowledge of SSDLC, DevSecOps practices, and vulnerability management tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to convey technical risks to both executive and non-technical audiences
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty (preferred)
- Relevant leadership-oriented certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP (preferred)
- Experience with FedRAMP readiness or ATO processes (preferred)
- A background in Public Safety, Criminal Justice, or other regulated environments (preferred)
Responsibilities
- I will define and execute our division’s cloud security strategy utilizing AWS services and Zero Trust architecture principles.
- I will oversee secure-by-design implementations across the infrastructure and application lifecycles, ensuring they comply with industry and government standards.
- I will collaborate with Cloud Operations and Engineering to integrate Secure Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and manage the cloud security posture (CSPM).
- I will take ownership of developing and implementing the division’s CJIS 6.0 program, which includes internal policy, documentation, training, and technical alignment.
- I will maintain SOC 2 Type II compliance and contribute to our readiness for FedRAMP Moderate alignment by 2030.
- I will implement corporate security frameworks, advancing them into division-specific policies, standards, and governance enhancements to achieve cross-functional alignment and fulfill CJIS (6.0) and SOC 2 requirements.
- I will monitor evolving compliance frameworks and ensure security controls are integrated into daily engineering and operational practices.
- I will act as our division’s primary contact during external audits and assessments, including those related to CJIS, SOC 2, and FedRAMP.
- I will support customer security reviews, RFPs, and pre-sales conversations alongside legal, compliance, and customer success teams.
- I will lead or assist in our division’s incident response efforts, managing external communications and post-incident evaluations.
- I will maintain the division’s security risk register and coordinate remediation efforts with product and engineering leaders.
- I will develop and sustain internal audit and monitoring processes to evaluate control effectiveness and compliance readiness.
- I will mentor security engineers and coach internal Security Champions within development and operations teams.
- I will promote a proactive security culture that empowers teams to build secure systems.
Description
We are Tyler Technologies, a frontrunner in the Gov Tech industry, and we are currently seeking to appoint a Division Security Director – Public Safety to spearhead our Cloud security initiatives within a rapidly expanding division, which generates $145 million in annual revenue. The right candidate for this role will have a proven history of leading Cloud security projects and initiatives. In the capacity of Division Security Director, you will steer security strategy and compliance execution for our Public Safety software division. This influential role will be pivotal in adapting and implementing enterprise security frameworks, developing division-specific policies, and driving execution to meet essential compliance objectives—such as maintaining SOC 2 Type II, aligning with CJIS Security Policy v6.0 by 2027, and advancing a longer-term plan towards FedRAMP Moderate alignment by 2030. This position merges extensive technical knowledge with strategic leadership. You’ll take full ownership of the division’s security roadmap, particularly concerning CJIS and SOC 2 while collaborating closely with corporate security, product, engineering, cloud operations, and compliance teams to ensure alignment and execution. You will also be a key representative to customers—championing the division during external audits, assessments, and security incidents. This role works intimately with executive leadership and serves as the authoritative voice for the division on cloud security, compliance, and risk management. Your capability to lead policy implementation, connect corporate frameworks with division-specific needs, and drive program results will be vital for success.
