Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
- Over 8 years of practical experience in developing embedded systems using C/C++.
- Proven skills in integrating and troubleshooting Controller Area Network (CAN), Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.x, and cellular communications, with preferred knowledge of over-the-air (OTA) updates and remote device management.
- Strong expertise in embedded software design, including Embedded Linux (Yocto 4.x / 5.x), real-time operating systems (RTOS), and hardware abstraction layers.
- Familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated test frameworks is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of embedded system constraints, including resource usage, power consumption, timing, and reliability; experience in developing connected products for telematics, HVAC, automotive, or industrial IoT applications, along with knowledge of cybersecurity practices for embedded platforms is advantageous.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies; active participation in Scrum teams is highly sought.
- Preferred professional certifications in embedded software or wireless technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and engage in the architecture, implementation, testing, and debugging of embedded firmware and drivers.
- Spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of embedded software solutions utilizing C/C++ for real-time applications.
- Integrate connectivity technologies such as Controller Area Network (CAN), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and cellular communication into embedded systems.
- Collaborate closely with Applications Systems Engineering to define requirements, interface specifications, and validate cloud/software integration.
- Conduct code reviews, engage in peer programming, and comply with best practices for embedded development.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards for reliability, security, and performance.
- Document designs, processes, and modifications in accordance with internal protocols.
- Collaborate actively within Agile teams, participating in Scrum ceremonies and fulfilling sprint commitments.
- Diagnose complex system issues involving hardware, firmware, and software interactions.
- Support product validation, field testing, and deployment tasks as necessary.
