Requirements

Must:
- 1-3 years of experience in automation, controls, industrial engineering, or reliability within distribution/logistics or manufacturing environments. - Understanding of PLC/HMI systems (Siemens or Allen Bradley) capable of reading logic and diagnosing issues at a high level; ability to make minor parameter adjustments when allowed. - Experience in orchestrating activities with OEMs/integrators and effectively resolving technical issues. - Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline (Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, Industrial, or related) preferred, or relevant technical qualifications/certifications considered in lieu of a degree. - Systems-oriented thinking concerning conveyors, robotics/ASRS, WES/WMS, and control mechanisms. - Competency in mapping data flows and dependencies. - Familiarity with operational data analysis; knowledge of SQL, Python, R, or BI tools such as Power BI/Tableau is advantageous. - Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills. - Confidence in leading cross-functional meetings and vendor discussions. - Ability to interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs. - Understanding of industrial networking basics.

Responsibilities

- Oversee the health of automation systems (throughput, uptime, MTBF/MTTR, error codes) and facilitate daily/weekly performance reviews with site teams. - Respond to incidents, execute initial diagnostics using SCADA/HMI/WES interfaces, and manage ticket processes with OEMs/integrators until resolution is confirmed. - Implement minor adjustments or safe bypass routines under established change management and rollback procedures when access is granted (e.g., conveyor PLCs); coordinate interventions for code adjustments when access is limited (e.g., KNAPP shuttles). - Keep comprehensive records of system setups, network/electrical schematics, change histories, and standard operating procedures. - Act as the main liaison with equipment OEMs and software providers; oversee issue escalation and service level agreements. - Gather and prepare evidence (fault logs, data traces, videos) for vendor review; confirm fixes through testing and acceptance criteria. - Organize and coordinate vendor interventions, both remote and on-site, aligning with operational schedules and safety protocols. - Create and manage performance dashboards (e.g., OEE, backlog, flow rates, choke-point analysis) utilizing available data sources (WMS/WES/WCS/PLC tags, historians, CMMS). - Identify recurring issues and systemic limitations; suggest and prioritize improvements based on their projected impact. - Collaborate with maintenance to implement preventive/predictive measures and update PM tasks based on failure assessments. - Support handoffs and integrations among WMS, WES, WCS, robotics, and conveying systems; engage in FAT/SAT, commissioning, and ramp-up processes. - Draft user specifications, acceptance criteria, and rollback plans for system modifications; oversee transitions and smoke tests. - Contribute to simulation/modeling evaluations to confirm anticipated rates and buffer strategies. - Comply with tiered access policies specific to each site. - Direct engineering execution of changes for conveyor systems under control governance and lockout/tagout standards; vendor-mediated changes for platforms such as KNAPP shuttles require documented approvals and acceptance testing. - Adhere to lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and management of change protocols. - Provide training and guidance materials for operations and maintenance staff on safe and effective system operation.
