Requirements
Must:
- 1 to 3 years of experience in data center operations or as a data center technician
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Proficiency in organizational and presentation abilities
- Familiarity with low-voltage cabling standards such as Category 6, Category 6A, OM3, OM4, and single-mode fiber
- Experience with server and network installation, including network patching (copper and fiber cabling)
- Solid understanding of data center operations and facilities management
- Familiarity with patching schedules and documentation for hardware install/move/add/change events
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent time management and follow-through skills
- Dependable with a proactive attitude and strong work ethic
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site support to maintain the data center and its hardware under the guidance of the Data Center Operations Manager
- Perform physical setup (rack and stack) of data center hardware and structured cabling installations
- Execute cabling for current and new setups, including copper and fiber patching
- Terminate cables and troubleshoot infrastructure issues as necessary
- Install new hardware such as switches, servers, storage units, firewalls, and routers
- Collaborate with the IT Services Desk Team to diagnose and repair server hardware
- Monitor the data center environment, including power consumption and climate control
- Conduct proactive checks on hardware alerts and single points of failure
- Decommission and responsibly dispose of obsolete hardware
- Assist third-party installers while adhering to security protocols
- Manage hardware inventory and ensure availability of spare equipment for quick repairs
- Install and troubleshoot prefabricated fiber infrastructure
- Maintain accurate data center documentation and assist with administrative tasks as required
- Build effective relationships with clients
- Carry out testing processes to ensure successful installations
