Network Systems Engineer - Networking & Security

- Design and architect physical and logical network structures for both connected and isolated environments - Create and implement flexible, secure S&T systems/network solutions that support ongoing R&D and DevSecOps - Provide guidance on network planning for long-term initiatives, including SDREN integration and related facility projects - Develop innovation roadmaps that align with mission objectives and emerging technologies - Collaborate with facilities and engineering teams to ensure that robust infrastructure supports research operations - Evaluate and address network hardware, power, and cooling requirements, supervising upgrades of structured cabling - Oversee containerization, virtualization, and orchestration of systems for laboratory computing, HPC, and edge devices - Engineer S&T network and systems security frameworks in accordance with NIST 800-series, DoD RMF, DISA STIGs, and cybersecurity practices - Implement DevSecOps pipelines for automation of configuration, security assessments, and CI/CD deployments - Manage ATO package development, collaborating with ISSMs and cybersecurity stakeholders - Integrate identity management and single sign-on solutions across enclaves and hybrid environments - Maintain and deploy hybrid cloud services and virtualization platforms such as VMware, AWS, and Azure - Design and oversee storage and automation solutions, ensuring connectivity between scientific equipment, cloud resources, and virtual desktops - Monitor system and network performance utilizing platforms like OpManager and ManageEngine - Document architectures, processes, and system configurations using tools such as Lucidchart and Confluence - Share knowledge, mentor, and provide technical guidance to engineers and stakeholders
