Requirements
Must:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field; 6 additional years of experience may substitute for a degree
- At least 8 years of experience in software development
- Strong grasp of software development principles and best practices
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C#)
- Familiarity with secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10)
- Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST 800-series, DoD RMF, and DISA STIGs
- Experience with version control systems like Git
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Active Secret clearance (TS/SCI and SAP eligibility preferred), must maintain throughout employment
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cybersecurity engineers and fellow developers to create secure software architectures
- Engage in threat modeling and conduct security risk assessments
- Contribute to formulating secure coding standards and best practices
- Research and assess new technologies and frameworks for improved security and efficiency
- Write, maintain, and document clean, testable code
- Work with network engineers and administrators to ensure secure application deployment and configuration
- Help develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates
- Participate in automating application deployment and setup
- Write secure code that complies with established security standards
- Take part in code reviews and security audits
- Remediate vulnerabilities highlighted through security scans and testing
- Integrate security controls into the application development lifecycle
- Collaborate with DevSecOps engineers to include security scanning tools in CI/CD pipelines
- Implement and uphold secure APIs and data storage solutions
- Contribute to security incident response activities
- Develop and deploy applications in virtual and cloud environments (e.g., VMware, AWS, Azure)
- Enforce security controls for cloud-facing resources and services
- Create and deploy secure containers and microservices
- Ensure applications are properly equipped for security monitoring and logging
- Monitor application performance and security
- Assist in developing dashboards and reports to track essential security metrics
- Document application architectures, code, and security controls
- Participate in training and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Implement and maintain effective logging and auditing protocols
