Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (Masters preferred) - Over 10 years of experience in FPGA design for complex embedded systems - Expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog - Extensive knowledge of FPGA toolchains (Quartus and/or Xilinx) - Strong skills in timing closure, constraint management, and system integration - Proven track record of integrating FPGA designs into hardware platforms - Experience managing products through new product introduction (NPI), production release, and sustaining phases - Excellent analytical and debugging skills, with an aptitude for root-cause analysis - Strong communication abilities and a talent for cross-functional collaboration - Familiarity with scientific instrumentation, analytical equipment, or precision measurement systems (preferred) - Experience with MATLAB/Simulink (HDL Coder/System Generator) or High-Level Synthesis (HLS) (preferred) - Knowledge of high-speed data acquisition systems (preferred) - Understanding of FPGA-based signal processing pipelines (preferred)

Responsibilities

- Define and lead the FPGA architecture for high-performance data acquisition and control systems - Collaborate with electrical, firmware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to drive system-level design decisions - Oversee complex FPGA development from initial concept through to production release - Manage timing closure, resource optimization, power management, and performance tuning - Develop FPGA logic utilizing VHDL, Verilog, and/or System Verilog - Conduct high-level modeling and simulation - Perform synthesis, place & route, constraint development, and timing analysis - Implement high-speed interfaces, including PCIe, DDR, LVDS, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C - Integrate SoC FPGA architectures where applicable - Establish and execute FPGA verification strategies - Create simulation environments and regression frameworks - Lead board bring-up, hardware integration, and system validation - Ensure compliance with product performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements - Provide advanced troubleshooting for FPGA-related production or field issues - Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective design measures - Drive continuous improvement in FPGA design standards and tool workflows - Mentor and support junior engineers - Create and uphold best practices in coding standards, documentation, and verification methodologies - Contribute to the long-term FPGA technology roadmap within the Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry Division
