Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree preferred with 1-3+ years of hands-on technical experience in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating analytical tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Comprehensive understanding and significant experience in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.
- Proven ability to effectively engage with customers.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with professional proficiency in English.
- Strong record of repairing innovative systems down to the component level.
- Proficient in MS DOS and Windows software environments.
- Capable of reading and interpreting schematics.
- Familiar with UHV technologies and related phenomena.
- Must be able to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as necessary.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs; must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship; able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation of cutting-edge equipment and adhere to testing protocols to ensure effective functionality.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance visits at customer locations.
- Diagnose and provide repair support for customers and field service personnel.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with customers and team members.
- Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to troubleshoot issues or assist other field service staff.
- Complete and submit detailed field service reports.
- Offer training to customers and users on system maintenance procedures.
- Collaborate across functions with product quality teams.
- Contribute to the creation and correction of Thermo Fisher system documentation.
- Provide insightful input in generating reports that identify and isolate system problems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training initiatives.
