Requirements
Must:
- Extensive experience in OT cybersecurity architecture, IT security architecture, or integration architecture within industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of industrial systems, ICS/SCADA technologies, and protocols (such as Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET).
- Proven track record in designing segmentation strategies, DMZ architectures, and ensuring secure connections between OT and IT environments.
- Experience with enterprise identity platforms (e.g., Active Directory, Entra ID/Azure AD) and identity integration processes during M&A.
- History of leading or assisting with M&A integrations, technical due diligence, or significant transformation projects.
- In-depth knowledge of cyber risks in OT settings and practical application of strategies for risk mitigation.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments with multiple competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills to articulate complex architectural ideas to both executive and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated capacity to influence stakeholders and foster alignment across global, matrixed organizations.
- Competence to operate at both strategic and tactical levels, from high-level design to hands-on guidance assessments.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443, CCSP) are highly preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Familiarity with OT security standards such as ISA/IEC 62443 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- Expertise in network segmentation, zone/conduit architecture, and the application of Zero Trust principles in OT/IT integration.
- Experience integrating OT security monitoring platforms and SIEM.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards affecting manufacturing, lab, and R&D environments (e.g., GxP, FDA).
- Experience with cloud, edge, and IIoT integration scenarios and their associated security considerations.
- Familiarity with asset discovery and visibility tools in OT settings.
- Experience in threat modeling and risk-based security design for integrated environments.
- Experience leveraging Generative AI to enhance assessment, integration planning, or threat analysis is advantageous.
- Ability to independently drive architecture and integration strategies with minimal oversight.
- Capable of navigating complex, high-pressure scenarios with shifting requirements.
- Proven leadership skills to influence cross-functional teams and engage in executive-level discussions.
- Ability to simplify complex risks and architectural choices for a varied audience.
- Effectively adaptable to changing priorities and incomplete information during integration processes.
- Committed to continuously improving integration methodologies based on insights and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead OT/IT integration security architecture strategies, standards, and roadmaps for M&A initiatives.
- Design secure architecture solutions that align acquired environments with enterprise OT and IT security frameworks.
- Establish scalable and efficient patterns for integrating diverse manufacturing, laboratory, and R&D environments.
- Balance integration speed with risk management to maintain business continuity and operational resiliency.
- Conduct M&A security assessments and integration planning.
- Oversee OT and IT cybersecurity evaluations for acquisitions, which include site assessments and technical due diligence.
- Identify risks, vulnerabilities, and remediation priorities in acquired OT/ICS, lab, and IT environments.
- Develop integration strategies and phased roadmaps that align with business timelines and risk tolerance levels.
- Offer actionable insights to leadership regarding integration sequencing, funding requirements, and risk mitigation.
- Apply enterprise OT security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, NIST) to integration initiatives.
- Design and execute segmentation strategies, including zone/conduit architectures and OT/IT DMZ setups.
- Ensure that monitoring, detection, and response capabilities are embedded in acquired environments.
- Support the establishment of security measures aligned with regulatory, quality, and compliance standards (e.g., GxP).
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of industrial control systems (SCADA, DCS, PLCs), laboratory instruments, and manufacturing workflows.
- Ensure secure connections between OT systems and enterprise IT platforms, including identity, logging, and monitoring systems.
- Assess and optimize legacy technologies while balancing modernization and operational limits.
- Minimize disruptions to manufacturing, lab, and R&D operations during integration efforts.
- Collaborate with M&A, IT, OT, engineering, and site leadership to implement integration strategies.
- Act as a liaison between acquired organizations and enterprise teams to align on security norms and expectations.
- Clearly communicate risks, architectural decisions, and trade-offs to both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Influence stakeholders within a global, matrixed organization to ensure consistent and secure integration results.
- Create reusable playbooks, templates, and standards for OT/IT integration in M&A scenarios.
- Stay informed about emerging threats, technologies, and integration strategies relevant to OT and IT sectors.
- Identify opportunities for enhancing the speed, consistency, and security of future integrations.
- Utilize automation, analytics, and AI-driven capabilities to improve integration and security workflows.
