Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Over 3 years of practical technical experience with installation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of complex analytical instruments like SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum systems and high voltage equipment
- Valid drivers license is required
- Willingness to travel up to 75% within assigned territory
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform work in laboratory settings
- Proficiency in English is necessary; additional languages are advantageous
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electronics and mechanics, with a knack for diagnosing issues at the component level
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents, electrical schematics, and system diagrams
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and service management software
- Proven ability to instruct customers on equipment operation and maintenance
- Track record of achieving customer satisfaction objectives
Responsibilities
- Carry out on-site installation, maintenance, repair, calibration, and testing of electron microscopy systems, including SEM, TEM, and FIB systems
- Identify and address complex mechanical, electronic, vacuum, and software-related system challenges
- Execute regular preventive maintenance to enhance system reliability and performance
- Act as the primary technical resource for designated customers and regions
- Foster and maintain robust working relationships with customers, system users, and internal teams
- Offer technical support to clients and assist fellow field service engineers in troubleshooting tasks
- Travel frequently to customer locations, occasionally on short notice, to manage service issues
- Document detailed field service reports and keep accurate service records
- Provide training to customers on system operation, upkeep, and best practices
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards in lab and industrial settings
- Communicate feedback on product quality and system performance improvement opportunities to relevant teams
